Wednesday, Feb 12, 2025 — Hindu Students Council (HSC) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard on her historic appointment as Director of National Intelligence, making her the first Hindu American to serve in a U.S. Cabinet position. This milestone marks a significant achievement not only for Congresswoman Gabbard but for the broader Hindu American community.
“As young Hindu Americans, we are incredibly proud to witness Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard’s appointment as Director of National Intelligence,” said Sohini Sircar, Chairperson of the Hindu Students Council. “Her leadership and unwavering commitment to dharma serves as an inspiring example for Hindu youth and students across the United States.”
In 2020, Congresswoman Gabbard was the keynote speaker at HSC’s Virtual Commencement Ceremony and spoke directly to HSC’s network of Hindu students. Her speech, which emphasized the importance of leadership, resilience, and staying true to one’s values, resonated deeply with the students who were in attendance and continues to motivate them today.
Congresswoman Gabbard’s journey of public service has been nothing short of trailblazing. In 2012, she made history as the first Hindu American elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, and since then, she has consistently championed policies that reflect her values of service, peace, and inclusion. Her courage and commitment to sharing her Hindu values with the public have motivated countless individuals and organizations, making her a role model for young people striving to make a difference in their communities.
“We look forward to Ms. Gabbard’s continued leadership in her new role as Director of National Intelligence,” said Riddhi Patel, President of Hindu Students Council. “She serves the community while remaining grounded in dharma and seva, serving as an example for the next generation of leaders within the Hindu community and beyond.”
Hindu Students Council is proud to celebrate Ms. Gabbard’s accomplishments and looks forward to her continued success in this critical role.
