On December 18, 2025, Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu, was assaulted, hanged from a tree and set ablaze in Bangladesh. Disturbing reports of violence against Hindu women in Bangladesh have surfaced, as well. Hindus in Bangladesh have been a persecuted minority since India gained independence from the British and has only seen an uptick since Bangladesh’s independence in 1971. It is important for Hindus around the globe to acknowledge and stand in solidarity against this continued persecution. It is disturbing and painful to see Hindus being annihilated of the basic right to life, simply for their beliefs, as millions have been cleansed over decades. Hindu Students Council, on behalf of all Hindus globally, is committed to upholding the values of Dharma, and being a voice against the violence in Bangladesh. The more resilient and resounding the voices for Dharma are, the more awareness can be brought for victims of such violence and justice for their families and communities. 

The example of Das is only one exception that has made it to international media, among the many silenced voices. In December alone, there were reportedly at least 50 acts of violence against Hindus. As a pan-Hindu nonprofit organization, Hindu Students Council urges Hindus throughout North America to raise awareness about the Hindus in Bangladesh. For those who are fortunate to practice dharma freely, must stand alongside those who are not.
